Hold Me

Whenever I'm listening to hold music and the song ends, I always expect the customer service representative to pick up at that moment. But there's no reason that should be, and indeed, it's generally not the case.

But in the future...

If you want the customer service representatives to be working all the time, you'd have to give each caller a separate recording. Otherwise reps would probably deliberately try to end calls just after a new song begins, meaning they'd get to take a song-length break. You might as well make sure each caller gets to hear the beginning of a song, too, while you're at it.

If you could get separate recordings, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to have the reps take one of the calls whose song had just ended.

On the other hand, do you really want to have to wait longer than is necessary?
